Learn the SCUBA University way; Ultra fun, flexible, and safe. Interested in touching another world, exploring beyond land, and experiencing the other 2/3 of the planet? Then the first step in learning to scuba dive is Scuba University’s Open Water Diver program. Scuba University utilizes the latest programs from PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) and NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors) the most widely recognized and respected diving certifications in the world. Within a few days, you can be enjoying the underwater world.

Not sure if a full-blown course is for you? Take a Discover Scuba or Discover Scuba Diving program at a Deep Blue Dive Center and experience what you're missing. Kids are welcome too! There are a variety of fun and exciting programs available to get the whole family involved. No experience necessary! At Deep Blue’s SCUBA University, a personal, almost hand held experience that includes academics, pool, and check out dives at one of several beautiful local locations. The only requirements are that you need to be over ten and in good medical health.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?
Here at Deep Blue’s SCUBA University, classes start almost every week, with the regular course lasting about 3 weeks and the accelerated course lasting just over one week. You may choose between evening classes during the week or day classes on the weekends. Your Deep Blue SCUBA University Open Water Certification Course includes:

WHAT WILL I NEED?
An important part of our staff's commitment is to help you select your diving equipment. Many divers wish to train in their own equipment. Our staff will be able to assist you in purchasing equipment suited to your individual diving needs. Fit and comfort are most important. Beginning Scuba students need to purchase the following required dive equipment before the first class:

	Dive Mask - your eyes to the underwater world
	Anti-fog See Drops – so your mask stays clear
	Snorkel - surface air supply
	Fins with heel strap - provides underwater propulsion
	Neoprene Booties - protects feet and provides warmth
	Dive Equipment Bag (complementary large duffle gear bag with class and mask/snorkel/fin purchase) - to ensure that you and your equipment get to the dive together

WHEN & WHERE DO I SCUBA DIVE?
You will start SCUBA diving at your very first pool session and will be out local diving in the regular course on your second weekend. After course completion, you can participate in Deep Blue's numerous activities like:

	Diving the clear waters of Lake Superior
	Local Lake Michigan Boat Dive Trips
	Membership into a Dive Club
	Travel to Exotic Warm Water Dive Destinations

At Deep Blue, we want to fit our courses in with your lifestyle and learning requirements. You have three standard class schedules to choose from:

The Weeknight class, the Weekend Explorer class and the Weekend Quick Start class. And of course if none of these fit your schedule, ask our staff about private custom classes.

All of our courses offer the same complete level of training. Deep Blue’s SCUBA University teaches in small groups and we have terrific response to our classes. A deposit or full payment will guarantee your place in the class.

Your Openwater class is FREE with purchase of a Total Diving System. Your Diving System includes: Basic equipment, air delivery system, buoyancy & ballast system, air management, and environmental protection suit (wet or dry). Ask a Staff member for details on setting up your own Diving System, 414.964.DIVE.

THE WEEKNIGHT CLASS
The Weeknight Class is a 2-week class that meets 2 Tuesday and Thursday nights & 1 weekend:
Course length: 2 weeks
Multimedia: Study in the comfort of your home on your schedule
Academic review and pool: 2 Tuesday and 2 Thursday nights, 6pm to 9pm
Open Water Checkout: Saturday and Sunday 8 am to Noon

PRIVATE CLASS
Travel plans? Got a busy schedule? Need to get certified quickly?
Then try our Private class! It offers a “flexi” schedule that includes multimedia home-study, private academic and pool training. Your open water diving can be done locally or even on your vacation. All on your schedule!

Deep Blue tailors every dive training experience each week to our student’s needs and local conditions. We monitor lake conditions daily and adjust the training each week for optimal learning. At the start of each class the Scuba University Instructor will outline the detailed class times and locations.
