Just weeks after Hurricane's Katrina and Rita
ripped through the Gulf Coast, a new threat loomed
off the coast of Belize - a tropical storm that
eventually formed into Hurricane Wilma, one of
fiercest storms in recorded history. Luckily,
the storm merely skirted Belize. The Deep Blue
divers arrived in Belize City in anticipation
for an exciting week of diving.
Our
chartered trip was aboard the
Belize Aggressor III, a truly wonderful liveaboard
dive boat. If you have never been on a live-aboard
dive trip, you are truly missing out! From the
moment you step on board, you are pampered at
every turn - expect great food, warm hospitality,
and best of all...warm showers between each of
your five daily dives.
This
particular Belize Charter was the third Aggressor
trip sponsored by Deep Blue. The first night was
for getting acquainted with the boat, crew and
fellow travelers. For most of us, this would be
the last time we would need to wear shoes for
the next seven days.
After a hearty meal and introductions, the divers
were free to mingle about, most of them retreating
to the dive deck to set up their dive gear and
cameras for the upcoming week of diving.
A
Note about the photography: Most of the
photos in this collection were taken on simple
point-and-shoot digitals with inexpensive housings.
Specifically, Kristian used a Canon A80 with Canon
Underwater Case and Reefmaster Digital Strobe.
Scott used a Olympus 5050. Click any photo to
